Technic Building Question

Hi, Technic Builders! Recently, while I was building a NXT robot, I realized I kept needing to build studless beams parallel to each other, like you would stack two studded beams, when I found there was no piece for doing so. My only improvisation by linking a 'Technic Axle Joiner Perpendicualr Double Split' with a 'Technic Axle Joiner Perpendicualr Double,' and using pins two hold the beams together. A problem is that I have very few of these pieces. So how do other people do this?

New Post Icons!

I was getting tired of the post icons, and decided that we should have some technic post icons. I got onto Lego Digital Designer 2.0 and took a snap shot of a friction peg (black) than did the same with the non-friction peg. I then fiddled around with Photo Shop Elements for about 10 minutes and got it all set up for uploading. I then put a red "X" on the non-friction peg for locked topics/forums. Feedback is welcome!

Chat Room Added!

On the Technic Builders' forum I added a chat room for those who want to chat with each other without the whole wide world that don't have accounts from viewing it. It allows the emoticons and is in a whole new window so you can do everything else while still chatting. Feedback about this installment would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I am a new contributer to the Technic Builders Blog. First of all, I want to thank Andy for inviting me. I was recently chatting to him, and he invited me.

I am aware this is Technic blog, but I focus mostly on the NXT.

A little about me: I, like many of you, own both the RCX and the NXT. I got interested in Robotics when I was invited to be on my school's FLL team. I soon recieved my RCX. Since then, I have been an avid RCX user. When the NXT was announced, my intrest was renewed.

My current project is designning a robot for next year's FLL season. I am also working on a robotic arm that plays ping-pong...

When I have free time, I practice the clarinet and play ping-pong (table tennis)

I am also a contributer to the NXT Step Blog.

I hope to provide useful posts and comments to this blog,

Blog update! Once again...

Well, as the title says, I have updated the blog. I finally managed to remove the "Welcome to the" header and it is all thanks to Laurens (one of our readers)! I did'nt completly understand what he ment (look at the other post about the blog update and read the commentts) but I took the hint from the comment and finally I managed to remove the header. Thanks Laurens!

Lego Technic Dragster

I was doing my usual, searching for a good creation to post, and I found one that was more than worthy: This has some amazing length, and some really cool back tires. Notice the large length of flex cable, which makes it even look cooler. Also if you look behind the seat way in the back you will see a large engine with 8 exhaust pipes (red). This baby would be sticking hard on the ground in a drag race because it has both front and back spoilers. NOTE: look closely and you'll notice it even steers! There's a little rack and pinion unit in the front of the dragster. Enjoy!

Gigantic Mobile Crane

I was searching through brickshelf and found a gigantic mobile crane! So, before going on heres the link. The design is probably the best I've ever seen for this size of lego crane, but the best part is (In my opinion) the extendable boom, which is a very difficult build to master. (I'm not going to continue on with my opinions cause you probably get the idea) The base is amazing, with 10 wheels and 4 wheel steering it's one of the most difficult-to-build parts of the base. It also has large, trusty outriggers which can extend out of the side. Just a quick note: if you look in the lower right corner of the board its on in this picture, you'll see a motor switch with which to compare to the actual crane. Enjoy!

Lego autopilot

This is an awsome autopilot for a RC plane made out of Lego Mindstorms and the useful HiTechnic compass sensor (that I'm going to order soon :D). It looks really cool and on this page you can read more about it. One thing that caught my attention is that they wrote that next weekend will they make it airborn! Enjoy the video!

"Rover Robot" made out of Lego Power Function elements

This is a cool "Rover Robot" made out of the featuring Power Function elements from Lego.

The featuring Lego Power Function elements is temporarily set to be released in August 2007.

These Power Function elements is something I absolutley would recommend for Lego fan's with experience, I would not recommend it for Lego "newbies" since those Power Function sets are pretty advanced. If you are pretty new to Lego and absolutley want one of the sets I would have recommended the Dino set since it is not so advanced as the ferris wheel and the bulldozer. I am planning on buing one bulldozer and maybe a second one for trhe parts another time. The reason I am planning on buying the bulldozer instead of the others is that it is the most advanced one of the Power Function sets so far and I am pretty experienced since I have built Lego's for over 10 years (between 10 and 12 years out of 14)

Lego Rollercoaster! Whoaa!

Check out this cool rollercoaster made out of the new snowmobile treads and the new Power Functions motors! That rollercoaster is absolute awsome! Once I get my hands on that Bulldozer and some extra treads I will try to make it my own. It is absolutley awsome!

Robotics Invention System Joystick

I was browsing on brickshelf for a good model to post when I cam upon a joystick made with Robotics Invention System. Now before I get into the design, heres the Brickshelf folder. The design has a really great good bracing system for the actual joystick. It's very similar to Philippe Hurbain's joystick. This was made by one of NXTasy's newer members, Laurens200. I would really like to thank the adBricks forum for inspiring me to make a forum and a blog with the same "topic". Michael and I decided that the "topic" would be Technic Lego and Mindstorms with a little bit off topic to chill out with and talk about things that is not on-topic.
